Nutrition and Healthy Eating Tips For Teenagers
Health food is very important for the overall development and growth of the body. In the absence of it, many body organs would not grow, function, and develop as they are supposed to do. For teenagers also, the body needs its share of nutrition and energy to work properly. There are a wide variety of edible items which teens can take to let their body remain in full fitness. I recently wrote a post on What should I eat for dinner to be healthy?
Following are some important health foods for teenagers:
Teens need a good amount of calcium to build mass and give strength to the body. They must be given dairy products to get around 1200 to 1,300 mg of calcium on a daily basis. Options for your teens would be low-fat dairy items, low-fat yogurt, low-fat cheese, skim milk or green leafy vegetables or juice, and cereal.
Fruits and Vegetables
Health foods for teenagers are almost incomplete without fruits and vegetables which offer a range of nutrients. From vitamin A to vitamin C, and from fiber to potassium, teens get vital nutrients through fruits and vegetables. Teens can be given vegetables carrying fiber-laden hummus and fresh fruits with low-fat yogurt to let their bodies get the needed nutrients for overall growth and development. Meat and Beans
The health of your teens would be in the prime state when meat and beans are offered to them to fulfill the need for protein and iron in the body. Every teen needs between 10 to 12 mg iron per day for blood cell formation and for more oxygen in the organs. Beans, chicken, fish, leafy greens cereals, and fortified cereals would be great for their body. (Want to know more about the Advantages of an Iron-Rich Diet, Check this out.)
